07_02 Unfolding Daniel 11, as a Supplement to Jubilee 2000

This supplement document focuses on the interpretive problem that has prevented theologians from foreseeing how “the abomination that makes desolate” Mt. 24:14,15, will unfold. This document fits in, when you study Jubilee 2000, late in that document, where instructed, where you would normally come to verses 40 to 42 (inclusive) of Daniel 11, which is the problem text noted above. This whole Supplement document is necessary to properly remove the problem and open the rest of Daniel 11 to historical interpretation.

Note well: it is preconception that has prevented its interpretation till now. It is now time to unfold the rest of this chapter of Daniel, for God has stated, in the third chapter of the prophet Amos, verse 7, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets.” It is time!

Scripture text : Mt. 24, vs. 14, 15.

Title: Supplementary study to the “abomination of desolation” study called “Jubilee 2000 – What was it really all about?” (Add later, where instructed, late in that document.)

In chapter 11 of the book of Daniel, there are three problem verses for the theologians of today: vs. 40 to the end of 42. The chapter tells about the kings to the north and to the south of Israel, and their wars against each other, which affect Israel, specifically Jerusalem, as they so often advance through, and plunder Israel, on their way. The three problem verses deal specifically with the history of the beginning of “time of the end.” Expositors agree that “the time of the end” began in 1798, at the end of the 1260 years (a time, times, and an half – as revealed by Daniel 12, verses 4, 6 and 7: see Rev. 12:14 compared to v. 6).

The problem verses (Dan. 11:40-42) have been misunderstood for centuries, and have been a major stumbling block to the revelation of the “abomination of desolation.” Matthew 24, vs. 14, 15. (context – end times). The problem developed because it was noted that most of Daniel 11 is concerned with “the king of the north” versus the “king of the south,” and vice-versa, many times over.

This led to the preconception that there were only those two powers in v. 40, which caused these verses, as well as the remainder of the chapter, to be confusing as history was applied to them. Theologians. even our own, keep trying to make “the king of the north” the Papacy, because they also only see two powers in verse 40. Here is one of the keys that unlocks the prophecy, and makes it easily fit the history. The Papacy is NOT “the king of the north” for these verses.

Expositors have held that the Papacy (the “little horn”) couldn’t be fitted into these three problem verses as “the king of the north;” therefore, they say, the rest of the chapter cannot be about the Papacy. BUT: “The king of the south” was always Egypt, and “the king of the north,” at 1798, had been the Islamic power, under Turkey, for almost 350 years, and continued to be, till August 11, 1840! They had control of Jerusalem.

The other key to correct understanding of the section is that there are, beginning all the way back in verse 30, three powers on the scene instead of just two! In verse 30, “the king of the north,” the Roman Emperor Constantine, back in 321 A.D., “had intelligence with them that forsake the Holy Covenant”   **(the Ten Commandments, kept in “the ark of the Covenant” built by Moses for the Sanctuary). That was the Christian bishops of Rome, who later became Popes (538) and eventually became the kings of all of the kings of the divided Western Roman Empire. Thus designated, in verse 36 of Daniel 11, “the king,” NOT “the king of the North.”

Therefore, by verse 31, there are 3 powers on the scene from that time forward! – “the king of the north” –  after 330 A.D. the Roman Emperor in Constantinople (today’s Istanbul, in Turkey); “the king of the south” – Egypt; and, the third, the bishop of Rome! Eventually, the bishop of Rome became the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire! – a “beast” (a great king). By verse 36, he is “the king” – neither “king of the north,” nor “king of the south,” but king of all of the kings of Dark Ages Europe, up till 1798.

Who, then, WAS “the king of the north” through most of the Papacy’s reign? Since 638 A.D. till                                                           1798, the Islamic powers had control of Jerusalem, except for only one century, after the first Crusade!

Those are the important keys that unlock the prophecy from verse 40 to the end of verse 42. The bishop of Rome is “the king!” (v. 36) NOT “the king of the North;” and, he is a third power referred to in v. 40a.

At “the time of the end,” (v. 40) which began at the end of the “time, times and an half” of Daniel 12:4, 6, 7; which expositors agree was 1798, we must see 3 powers or kings. The history of the Papal “mortal wound” cannot be passed over unmentioned in a historical treatment of the year of the beginning of “the time of the end” – 1798! The Papacy is the third power!

Although Uriah Smith, in his book, Daniel and the Revelation, failed to unfold Daniel 11; by Providence, he DID include the historic details that DO allow us to unfold Daniel 11, just not assembled correctly. He mistakenly attributes the characteristics of the Papacy (vs.36 – 39) to the actions of the French Revolution. He a little later writes, however, that in 1798, Napoleon took Egypt [and became King of Egypt]. Smith didn’t realize that that made Napoleon the KING OF THE SOUTH for the problem verses! He expected, logically, that “the king of the south” would still be Egypt, but NOT under Napoleon!

Now comes the fun with grammar. In 1798, that very year, Napoleon became “the king of the south,” Egypt! He conquered Egypt in that year – “make [made] a conquest of the whole country.” Smith, p. 291. And this new “king of the south,” in the same year, “pushed at,” not “the king of the north,” but “the king” of verses 36 to 39. *The problem verses are actually 36 – 42!.*      Who is the antecedent for the first pronoun “him?” You must go back to vs. 36 -39 to find the antecedent, and realize that it is the Pope.

(When we look up the key word “push” in the Concordance, to understand its Biblical use, we find 1st Kings 22:11, where Ahab and Jehoshaphat, kings of Israel, in its divided form, are told by a false prophet that they would “push” – meaning destroy – their enemy, with a set of iron horns that the prophet had made for his illustration of how they would defeat their enemy. Instead, to “push at” their enemy did not result in destroying their enemy, but resulted in their own defeat. That is the end result that happened to Napoleon)!

Napoleon sent his general, Berthier, to conquer Rome, and he took the Pope captive and exiled him, expecting thereby to destroy the Papacy. He removed from the Pope his kingdom (his mortal wound – Revelation 13, verse 3) and his power to persecute. The Pope died in exile. But…a new Pope was elected in Rome, and France couldn’t prevent it from happening! This Pope was not then a king, (a great “beast”) but he was still head of the Catholic faith.  Napoleon’s “push” didn’t destroy his enemy, the Papacy.

Then, “the king of the north,” who Uriah Smith CORRECTLY identifies as the Islamic power, under Turkey (p.289,center of the page: and 295.1 – very important) in the SAME YEAR, 1798, declared war against Napoleon, to take Egypt, and Jerusalem, back!

The Scripture thereby accepts Napoleon as the king of the south!   The second pronoun “him” in v. 40, has to be Napoleon, the king of the south, just referred to!

The Turkish Empire, which had been “the king of the north” for almost 350 years, and continued to be, till August 11, 1840, declared war,  in 1798, Smith says, against Napoleon, because Egypt had been under their rule, and a source of much revenue for Turkey, which it was unwilling to lose. This “king of the north”, Scripture says, thereafter, “came against him [“the king of the south”- Napoleon] like a whirlwind, with chariots, with horsemen, and with many ships” and “overflowed and passed over,” and “entered into the glorious land” [Judea] and, “the land of Egypt shall not escape.” Napoleon lost Egypt back to the Turks.  Vs.40b and 41, Turkey had allied itself with the British and Russia (thus the many ships).

Napoleon “abandoned the conquests they had made in Judea, and the ‘glorious land.’   Palestine, with all its provinces, here called ‘countries,’ fell back   again   under the oppressive rule of the Turk!”

Edom, Moab, and Ammon [east of the Jordan River] were out of the line of march of the Turks from Syria to Egypt, and so escaped the ravages of that campaign.” – Smith, bottom p. 295.  “The king of the north,” for these verses, is NOT the Papal power. That is a  PRECONCEPTION. Verse 36 names him “the king” – king of all of the kings of Europe – the Holy Roman Empire, but not “king of the north.” Thus, Daniel 11’s problem verses unfolded.  ALMOST.

Holy Spirit guided my writer’s mind again. Verses 40 to 42 are an INTERRUPTION to the PARAGRAPH, that begins with the characteristics of the Papacy, vs. 36-39. Those characteristics reveal that it is the Pope – the antecedent to the first pronoun “him” in v.40.

Verses 40 – 42 tell the history of an interruption of the dominion of the Papal power [the subject of the paragraph] by a “mortal wound”  (Revelation 13:3).  [The original writer’s paragraph is hidden by the versification of Scripture]. Verses 40 to the end of 42, are not the beginning of a paragraph, as even some Bible versions apply them, but instead they are a PARENTHESIS (…..) – an interruption to the paragraph that begins at v. 36.  Daniel had described “the mortal wound,” of Revelation 13: NOTE: Rev. 13 is the companion to Daniel 11, for “last days” Bible study.

A writer applies the rule for a paragraph containing a parenthesis – Read the paragraph with the parenthesis first, then re-read the paragraph without the parenthesis, recognizing that the words [verses] following the parenthesis [verses 43 to 45] have, as their subject, the subject for the paragraph, the Papal power. We pick up his history AFTER HIS DEADLY WOUND WAS HEALED. The “But” that begins verse 43 directs our view back to “the king” of the verses before the parenthesis, the Pope of Rome. We skip history all the way until the return to power of the Papacy, after his “mortal wound” was healed, in 1929. (Thus we skip past even World War 1, to when Mussolini gave the Pope a kingdom – the Papal States, within the city of Rome – in exchange for financial support for his fascist movement in Italy!) and the Pope comes back into prophecy as a power! The Pope would become, once again a “beast” – a soon-to-be-great king once more.                                 Shortly thereafter, an alliance with Hitler, behind the scenes, throughout the Second World War, made the Papal power the “he” in verse 43, who “shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over the precious things of Egypt” – stolen treasures of conquest, shipped by rail to the Vatican by the Nazi army at the direction of Hitler – documented on film by the Nazi soldiers themselves (shown on the Knowledge Network in documentaries on Hitler) which I myself saw. The latter part of v. 43 backs that up, as the time period for these verses.. Providence sent to me an Ethiopian man, who testified that, just after his family emigrated to Canada, Hitler’s army conquered Ethiopia, rounded up the people, and forced them to either become Catholic, and keep Sunday, or die! Those who refused were mowed down with machine-gun fire.!Thus, Ethiopia was forced to be “at his [the Pope’s] steps.“ The whole country had been mainly Sabbath-keeping Christians, possibly because of the Ethiopian official baptized into Christ by Phillip in Acts ch. 8! Another of those documentary films, by the Nazis themselves, shown on the Knowledge Network, recorded that very murdering of many of those gathered, who refused to keep Sunday instead of the Commandment Sabbath. Thus the whole country was forced to be, “at his (the Pope’s) steps!”        I also saw that film!

Verse 44: “Tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him” – Communist China and Russia were destroying millions of Catholic Christians in countries they conquered; especially Russia – and the Bible charges the Pope with “going forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to make away many;” when, in reality, he sent Hitler into Russia to do his bidding, to make them also “at his steps.” No other history of the twentieth century fits the prophecy!

**Verse 45: Thousands of Seventh-day Adventists, for many years, have believed, from v.45, that the Pope will go to Jerusalem to make himself the ruler of the world, and it is now apparent that that will be as leader of the New World Order / New World Universal Church! (Revelation 17:13, 14 – the kings of the whole earth, “give their power and strength unto the beast.”)

“He shall plant the tabernacles [tents- temporary location] of his palace [his government] between the seas [Israel is compassed by the Mediterranean, the Black, the Caspian, the Red, and the Persian Gulf]….in the glorious holy mountain   [“line upon line” takes us to Daniel 9:16, “thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain”]. When [not if] the secular Jews in Israel make an alliance with the Pope, to protect them from their Arab enemies all around them, and welcome the Pope into Jerusalem, as the representative of Jesus, according to his title, “vicarius filii dei,” and also as the absolute leader of all religions in the world, as he claims to be, it will be an “indignation” to Jesus (Daniel 8:19; and 11:36) [The Pope DOES NOT REPRESENT Jesus]!! Also, it will be an “abomination” to God. When the Pope “stand[s] in the holy place,” Mt. 24:15, he will be “the abomination that maketh desolate” all of Judea, for the third time! Because that action by the Pope will defile the Holy Mountain of God – not a Holy Place, in a yet-to-be-built Temple in Jerusalem – the bracketed statement in Mt. 24:15 warns that one might be mistaken about that.                                                          Mount Moriah [which Jerusalem is built upon] is the Holy Place, in God’s eyes, Temple or no Temple.   Remember? – the mountain of sacrifice for Abraham, is the same mountain! The sacrifice of Jesus, was on that same mountain! The Pope himself represents the very things for which Ezekiel was told by God that Judea was made desolate for, the first time (Ezekiel 8) [Type – anti-type] – idol worship (here, of the “image” of MARY) and sun worship!             Is Israel still important to prophecy? SEE JEREMIAH 31:35 – 37 !!                   I believe that some of Messianic Judaism will be warned by Jesus’ reference to Daniel 11 about the “abomination” in v. 45! We must get the warning out to them, and the world! The unfolding of Daniel 11 NOW, is crucial to our Message! The “image” of MARY is “the image of the beast” of the Third Angel’s Message!     Bible text proof? Daniel 11:38, 39 – from the characteristics of the Papacy –  “a god, whom his fathers knew not, shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things…a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory.”  They have even made MARY the Intercessor between man and Jesus, against His Judgments!  For their Catechism, they REMOVED the Second Commandment (about images) from their 10 Commandments, to allow worship of MARY !!!                                                             Soon now, through the aid of Satan-generated apparitions of MARY, everywhere around the globe, in the skies above the populations, as the woman of Revelation 12:1 and 5 (a Satanic twisting of that text) the entire world will be convinced, by her apparition speaking – Rev. 13:15 – first, that a law be made that “as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed!” and then, that the Pope should be crowned as the leader of a New World Church, as well as the leader of a New World Order!! The Pope will go to Jerusalem – Dan. 11:45 – to accomplish exactly that!                                                                                                           See the Jesuit prophecy of that APPARITION event –  p. 639 of the Jesuit book, The Keys of This Blood, by Malachi Martin, published by the Vatican press. Also, Google search “MARY of Guadalupe,” to see Satan’s ancient picture of her in that role! Satan has been preparing the world for that event, by creating apparitions of MARY – Rev. 6:14 – ever since the big one, of Fatima in Portugal, in 1917. Over 2,000 such miracles were “authenticated” by the Papacy (according to the book, The Keys of This Blood) throughout the twentieth century, and they are still going on, to this day!                                                                                               The Pope, the man who “understands dark sentences” – Dan. 8:23 – will almost immediately return to Rome, because he knows that his “stand[ing] in the holy place” will cause the desolation of Judea and Jerusalem, by GOD! We must give the warning of Jesus (Mt. 24:14, 15) to everyone in Judea, especially, and also to the world!

Therefore, for emphasis, the Pope’s next move is verse 45, where he “accomplishes the indignation” (verse 36) which is the “abomination that maketh desolate.” (Matthew 24:14, 15). But he shall soon “come to his end, and none shall help him.”   Halleluyah! Jesus is coming soon!    Additional Note:

The “taking away of the daily” was accomplished by the Papacy by instituting a mortal, human priesthood to take the place of Jesus as our Priest in the heavenly Sanctuary. The “daily” is the ministry of Jesus in the heavenly Temple as our mediator before God! Hebrews ch. 8.   It is to JESUS we are to “confess our sins, and He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1st John 1:9. The “polluting the Sanctuary of strength,” over a very long time, was accomplished by the Popes, by replacing Christ with MARY as intercessor!

This completes the supplement and gets us past the stumbling block text of Daniel 11, v.40.
